The point of buy nothing is to give and receive things locally. I’ve had no issues in the 2 dufferent groups I’ve been in for several years now. They work well.

The DCUM website has never been much of a transaction website. You may be thinking of the mailing list. I am not sure the sort of forum you are proposing would work very well given that we are attracting users from such a wide geographic area now (including you apparently).

You can always post in the ‘For Sale” forum. The threads get deleted as things are sold.

You don’t live here but you want a Buy Nothing forum? Those only work when people are in the same area. And I haven’t seen a lot of leeriness towards existing Buy Nothing groups on FB.

Having read about the history of this site in threads here, and understanding that there was more transaction traffic in the distant past, I wondered if a Buy Nothing type forum would work here.

Many people are skeptical/leery of the more mass-distributed Facebook, Craigslist, Buy Nothing ads. But I see that people will still create a user ID for a compelling non-fraudulent reason every once in a while.

Just a thought. I'm not in DMV.
