Ooh, fun.

Real world me: pear shaped with wide hips, big butt and a great bust/neck/shoulder region, so I look for dresses that emphasize the upper body and are more forgiving in the lower half. This one calls to me, and I love the color:

+1 absolutely love the fringe in OP but that top would not work on me!

^ if it was acceptable to wear period dresses all the time, that's what I'd do!
With the corsets in those dresses, I can get my waist down to 24 inches, easy.

That color!

Note: I would have to lose a lot of weight, and some years too.

That is beautiful

This dress worn by Lily James in Cinderella, in darker shades of grey blue with some mauve. No puffs on the sleeves.

Or this dress worn by Romy Schneider in Sissi (right), in a darker shade of blue, and less regimented rosettes.

This Carolina Herrera maybe? https://www.bloomingdales.com/shop/product/carolina-herrera-pleated-draped-mini-dress?ID=5823894&CategoryID=1005206#SORTBY/PRICE_HIGH_TO_LOW

Oh ... and ... surfing around NM and Bloomingdale's websites for this, I was like ... What in the 1980s Dynasty is going on here?

Does it have to be a dress that fits real life me or can I pretend to be skinny?

Here's mine: https://www.saksfifthavenue.com/product/oscar-de-la-renta-halterneck-embroidered-silk-gown-0400024022263.html

Hair up, strappy sandals, perfect red lipstick. Love the idea of the fringe swishing through a party as I move around, champagne in hand.

How about you?
