Money should not be the deciding factor.

First one. She can make more in the future if that matters. Second one will be a drain on finances for a long time, maybe forever.

Neither.

$100K doesn't go far in DC and I'm not about to make a needy family my problem. If it were just a reasonable amount of student and cc debt, fine, you can get through that at $200K no problem.

Dating (hopefully) leads to marriage and marriage leads to shared income. I'm not sending half of my income to your parents every month because they're bad with money.
