1) camp is 8.45-4pm, with drop off starting at 8.30. This is a full hour longer than 9am-3pm camps
2) it’s structured and well organized. The kids have the same schedule each day, so after the first day they know to expect. The activities are varied. So they might have woodworking, fabric arts, mixed media and ceramics. As far as I can tell the art teachers are generally adults, but then there’s a teenage counselor or two who stay with the group the whole day.
3) this is a great camp for tactile kids who like using their hands and doing craft projects. Also a good camp for kids who want to be indoors when it’s hot out. This is not a great camp for a kid would like to play sports all day.

My kid has complained about most of the general summer camps she’s been to. Some of the specialty camps we’ve tried have been hit or miss (one had a great counselor, another had counselors who didn’t want to be there, or a tough mix of kids that week) but VisArts has always worked for my kid, so she’s going back, with some grumbling on my part due to the price hike.

Same here. Grumbled with my friend but signed them up because it's been a favorite.

What did they like about the camp? I think it was expensive even before the price hike. Now, it’s almost $600 per week??

I'm that PP. It was really well organized and the kids did a lot. Each day they had 4 activities, painting, woodworking, etc. Mine liked the teachers. The art was impressive for their age, clearly made with guidance and not just "here's a bunch of supplies, do whatever."

I think it's a good camp but also just very kid dependent based on fit.

It went up 10%, not sure that's massive.

EVERYTHING has raised prices 10-25% since last year. It's absurd

FWIW SASS also massively raised their rates this year and I am also debating whether it’s worth it. Everything seems very expensive now

Also unhappy with the large jump in cost. However like the previous poster this is a favorite of the kids.

Visart increase their summer camps rate from $900 for 2 weeks to new 3 rates which I am still confused. Do I have to apply for the subsided rate? Is it still worth it if I have to pay $1,150 or $1,350 for 2 weeks? It is for 7 year old.

$1,150—a subsidized rate for families for whom the standard rate isn’t feasible right now
• $1,350—the true cost rate of running the program
• $1,550—a supporter rate that helps grow our scholarship fund
