I’m finishing up #29 and hoping to hit 30 by Thursday night. Sadly, I did not break last year’s record of 32.

My new years resolution is to keep track. I'd say about 150? Until I retired in June, reading books was part of my job. I now have time to read what I want.

27. I don’t listen to audiobooks (I don’t have a dog in the fight of whether that’s considered reading or not but I do know my number is lower than people who include audiobooks) and I like big fat dense nonfiction that takes a long time to get through so even though I read a lot I don’t think my number especially conveys it. My nonfiction hyperfixations this year were the wives of Henry VIII, the Romanov family, and the Vietnam War and Civil War. Best novels I read were probably North Woods and Beautyland .

In the 50s. Usually I’m in the 80s or 90s but got hit with a surprise divorce and my concentration is shot and it turns out that documentation and litigation take a sh-t ton of time.

Loser STBX takes 18 months to read a single book, so ultimately this is for the best. Never trust a non-reader.

22 or maybe 23 by the end of the year. The Trump administration has harmed my ability to focus. First book was Martyr! And last one will probably be Consider Yourself Kissed. Unless I finish Audition before the clock strikes midnight.

76, maybe 78 by year's end. I didn't read much the first quarter of the year.
