OP here. We’re empty nesters. Labor divided pretty evenly I would say. I don’t know. I guess I’m crazy for desiring intimacy with my wife around the holidays?

This seems normal to me.
For most women, holidays are a time to try to make everything perfect to create memories and magic for kids and to let the people in your life (parents, siblings, coaches, teachers) know how much the mean to you with perfect gifts and cards. It’s also a time to connect with a lot of people you don’t see often, which might mean hosting parties, and almost certainly means attending them.
With all of this, it ends up being a time of a lot of scheduling and additional tasks and guilt and anxiety.

IF you really want to make the holiday more about an intimate connection within your nuclear family and you want to opt out of all of that, then you are going to have to take the lead in discussing this with your wife.
If you want to have sex while she is in this anxious, task driven mode, then I promise you that the very best case scenario is that she adds it to her “to-do” list.

It seems normal to me. There's a fair amount of work that goes into Christmas and it's a family holiday, I don't associate it with sex at all.
