They still pierce with a piercing gun. And also rns have no specialized training in piercing.

You can choose to do the needle at Rowan instead.

Yes to all of this. The big draw for RNs is that they have infection control/sterile field training. Less risk of infection.
+1. More expensive but that’s what I chose for DD

Our pediatrician does it in their office with an appointment for $100. Ask if yours does it, I didn’t know mine did until I saw a small sign for it in the office.

+1 on Rowan. Studs is good too. Or a tatto parlor.

If your in NOVA I recommend Craig Pokes You.

Please not Craigs. There's been some shady stuff going on there with how employees are treated. Creepy. THere's a post on it here somewhere.

Ugh that's awful to hear. I take back my comment about Craig's but I still recommend a studio.

At the Claire's by us (which I thought would be out of business because of the bankruptcy, but was hopping on the 23rd), the piercers are all older mom age and very experienced. I know the standard advice now is to go to a tattoo or piercing parlor, but my oldest middle schooler has a lot of friends piercing or doing second piercings now. All of the parlor piercings have gone wrong and the Claire's piercings have been fine. I know because they're the age where they want to corner me in the kitchen and give me all of the tedious details of their lives when coming in for snack breaks or drinks. I'm cherishing it and also taking very detailed mental notes.

Personally I wish I had pierced my DD's ears when she was a baby when she was born in a place where pediatricians do it. It's not something that's done in my culture but feels like it would have saved a lot of stress now.

Does my teen need an appointment for ear piercing or can we just find a place in the mall and walk in?

Thanks
