There’s a reason I no longer speak to my mother anymore… washing out my mouth with soap from the time I could speak until I left the house after graduation, getting whipped with my father’s thick leather belt, getting told I was stupid, fat, etc and spending most of my childhood grounded was only the start of it.

I now realize I had undiagnosed ADHD but once my mother had my IQ tested, she became even more irritated. I wasn’t even a “bad” kid, just active and messy.

Yeah because they were scared. And then it comes out later when they are maladjusted adults who don’t know how to feel or communicate what they want. So…. Have fun with that.

Bruh and 6-7 aren't swear words, it's just kids' slang. And they don't exclusively get that from friends, they get it from older siblings and media. Teachers even sometimes use teens like that to be funny and connect with kids. It's harmless so who cares.

Swear words are different. The only kids I know who swear comfortably have parents who swear a lot and who expose their kids to lots of foul language in media.

It gives them something tangible to associate with a behavior. It's not pleasant and it's not meant to be. But it doesn't harm them. They won't like it and that's okay.

It's a lot better than slapping or paddling. Children are born feral and it is up to parents to tame them to live in a civilized society. I have heard 6 yr olds use the "f" and "s" in practically every sentence. Obviously, they are simply using the language they hear their parents use everyday but I don't want these kids around my children.
