He got a non-prosecution “sweetheart deal” agreement (NPA) negotiated by then-U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta in the Southern District of Florida. This deal granted Epstein a lenient sentence and extended immunity from federal charges to him and any unnamed "potential co-conspirators.” This effectively halted an FBI probe into additional victims and accomplices.

Interesting. But Ghillaine was able to be prosecuted - why her?
Apparently because she was not covered by the 2008 non-prosecution agreement (NPA) that shielded Epstein and certain others from federal charges in the Southern District of Florida. Prosecutors in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) determined that the NPA—negotiated in Florida—did not bind them, allowing them to charge Maxwell in 2020 for her role in recruiting, grooming, and trafficking minors.
+1 She argued all the way to SCOTUS that she should have been covered by the NPA. They refused to take up the case.
PS That’s why all the files couldn’t come out during the last administration because her litigation was still pending.
