Apparently because she was not covered by the 2008 non-prosecution agreement (NPA) that shielded Epstein and certain others from federal charges in the Southern District of Florida. Prosecutors in the Southern District of New York (SDNY) determined that the NPA—negotiated in Florida—did not bind them, allowing them to charge Maxwell in 2020 for her role in recruiting, grooming, and trafficking minors.

+1 She argued all the way to SCOTUS that she should have been covered by the NPA. They refused to take up the case.

PS That’s why all the files couldn’t come out during the last administration because her litigation was still pending.

This is an important point. Conservatives like to say that the Biden administration sat on the Epstein files and chose not to do anything about them. This may be why.

Until I read the Miami Herald expose 6 yrs ago, I had no idea how many hundreds of people, who are also prominent in a global stage, are pedophiles. It shocks the core of what I believed and knew about the world, and especially America.

Because you need witnesses who are willing to testify.
Because it is reported that some of these victims (and they are victims) settled for money. I've no idea if it is true, but it is certainly possible.
Sadly, some of the victims are reported to have been "procurers," as well. That complicates things. They would be vulnerable to prosecution, too.

But, mostly, money.

We've seen the photos with Andrew and Clinton. Not a good look. Andrew seems to be paying a price--though jail would be the real price. It also appears that some parents of the girls may have been complicit. Did they know?

What this really reveals is that this is not isolated.

A family member in DOJ said that he went to a training some years ago. A police investigator showed that within 15 minutes of putting up a page as a 14 year old vulnerable girl, the hits started coming in from all over the United States. Lots of hits.
Epstein was awful, but apparently, just the tip of the iceberg on pedophilia.

Hopefully, some will become more aware of this mess in society.

Because we don't have a justice system in the USA and haven't had one for a good long time. We have a legal system, and it sux.
