If you’d like to and have bandwidth, you can send happy new year cards and gifts.

OP here. I keep thinking I should do this but worrying it will seem half-assed.

Would you prefer to experience appreciation 1 daya a year, or many days a year?

That is all we ask!

Also a teacher and totally agree.

To be totally realistic—I am so busy before the holidays I do NOT even notice who did or did not send a gift.

It's fine, but you can't complain when people don't remember you.

You sound SO stressed and frantic about this. Let it go. Nobody is keeping track except you.

I am a mother of four adult children, and I have also never asked myself this.

+1 omg. My dad had a somewhat political and public-facing job when I was a kid (he’d go back and forth between more behind the scenes stuff and more “spokesperson” roles) and I remember my mom running herself ragged in the 90s going to every store trying to get little gifts for this person and that person that my dad worked with/for.

I’ve stopped with all the teacher, service provider, etc. gifts/cards/extra tips/etc. Our “tip” is that my kids are both well-behaved and try hard at school and at their activities.

I never have. Is this a thing in all school systems? I don’t recall ever doing this as a kid either.

It was just a tough year, these things were on my list to do but I was struggling to get through this month and it didn't happen. I'm feeling such guilt about it.

I did donate money to two charities as well as to the fundraiser for the school and contributed to the class gift.

I don't know why it was so hard for me to get those things done but I just couldn't and now it's too late and I'm feeling bad about it. I told myself I can make up for the teachers at the end of the school year but I still feel bad.
