OP here, waiting for the kids to wake up... We never had mushrooms when I was a child, not in any form. Not sure why, probably grandma, who was cooking, or mom didn't like them. I do like fresh mushrooms now.
I still don't like fresh! That's a little much for me.
But chopped up and cooked well, either in a soup or duxelle, etc., they really have their place.
