But if so, why is the opt-in process starting?
Because there is enough space for 500 9th graders and 500 10th graders.

Does Reid have any strong points though.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:They bought a building custom built for small class sizes typical of a high end private school, not a 30 person public school. Bingo. They might luck out if they retain a good contractor, but retaining good contractors hasn’t exactly been Reid’s strong point. Just look at the incompetent clowns from Thru Consulting.

My thought to.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:In one of the planning slides for the western high school, it states that FCPS is looking to do some form of construction at the site.
I understand that proper athletic fields are needed, but it says that there will be work on/for shell buildings and in the main building.
Does anyone have any clue what this means and what their intent with renovating a relatively new building is?
The two cafeterias are tiny.
The buildings are pretty low capacity with the current setup, might need to change one of the gyms into 2 floors of classroom space.

I think the shell buildings are just that. Maybe, making classrooms. No tear down.
Got it.
But what do they mean by shell building, like an incomplete building needing completed?

They have done it with Baileys Upper before, but that was more of a refabrication than a fill in if you will.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:So just interior work then?Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:In one of the planning slides for the western high school, it states that FCPS is looking to do some form of construction at the site.

I understand that a lot of office buildings are done that way so that the tenant can adapt it to their needs. I think this probably works to the FCPS advantage.
