Cashmere sweaters! Huge difference between a $100 sweater and a $500 sweater.

Coats and shoes are major for me and can last years and years.

I also tend to invest in nice sweaters and dresses, ones that are not overly trendy but timeless.

I just bought a new coat. It wasn't an overly expensive one, I got it at Banana Republic, but at about $500 it was expensive enough that it is one of the most expensive clothing items I own right now. I'm obsessed with it, and am so glad I invested in a nice one.

FWIW, I don't consider bags/shoes/jewelry "clothes." I have spent more on things like that.

Cheaper dresses are fine for casual summer wear.Would not spend big dollars there.

My Fleurette was good for 20 years, possibly a year or two more. The lining starting shredding after that.

Dresses. A cheap dress is obvious in a way that a cheap top or a cheap pair of pants wouldn’t be.

DP. Coat brands that I currently have that are 10+ years old: Marmot, Lole, Barbour, Fleurette.

Fine jewellery and watches. Leather. Furs.

IMO, things that have function. Shoes that support your feet and are comfortable. Jackets that keep you warm.

Decorative items in general would be worth less. But this is a very pragmatic boring way of looking at it.

Jeans and shoes. Can’t say I notice the difference with most other stuff.
