my son has flu a, and had the shot. he's sick, but fortunately no super high temps. tylenol and advil are helping. he still has a small appetite. i think my son is suspectible to the flu, as am i. i'm good so far. i also had the shot.

This year's shot is a bad match. Supposedly, the shot can still lessen the severity of illness but it's impossible to quantify until after the end of the flu season.
It also doesn't help that the current administration has cut ties with the WHO (that provides annual flu strain data) and has cancelled the campaign to promote flu shots.

Did you actually get a positive flu test, OP? Or might it have been Covid-19?

So many flu cases at my kids' schools. So glad we got them vaccinated.

I read it’s a good match. Still haven’t gotten it for my 12 year old though as he’s always got something.

PSA with no symptoms or what happened on the one trouble some night?

Nice.

Sounds like the flu vaccine and the variant spreading are mismatched.

I also think the flu shot is helpful. Every year, one person in our household gets the flu, but the rest of us stay well. I attribute this to getting the flu shot.

My son had an appointment last week and his doctor said she’s seeing a lot of flu cases right now. We already had our shots though.

The flu shot is very good at preventing hospitalization and death for kids. There’s been two pediatric deaths already, and 0-5 age group is seeing increased hospitalization.

I think the flu shot is helpful, but won't stop you from getting sick, based on my family's experience. One adult did not get the shot, got the flu, and was very sick. One adult got the shot and also got the flu, but was not as sick. A child who got the shot also got the flu, and was moderately sick (but not as sick as the parent who did not get a shot). YMMV.

I was going to get it and then read it's a bad match. Not sure what to believe anymore.

I’m not sure how this is a PSA for the flu shot? Your kid had a terrible time on it anyway.

My kids have had the flu twice in the last couple of years. Once before they were able to get their shot and once after they got their shot. I could not tell the difference in terms of their sickness. The shot made no difference for them.

I personally haven’t gotten a flu shot since I was pregnant and don’t plan to. I haven’t had the flu in a long time despite my own kids getting sick with it. We mask in the house when they are sick.
