We have a rice cooker - the only way to make good rice - so will serve with rice. Also will serve with sauteed spinach and some soy sauce/brown sugar/garlic/ginger, and some persian cucumbers marinated in fly by jing sauce/rice vinegar/soy/a pinch of sugar.

A rice cooker is not "the only way to make good rice."

Have you tried rice in a rice cooker? It really is amazing.

I recently came across a recipe for bbq turkey meatloaf made with both ground turkey and turkey sausage, and DH and I ate it up faster than I would have imagined possible. The recipe made two loaves and I'd intended to freeze one ... we ate it over the next couple of days instead.

I’m sorry, no offense but for most people turkey anything is not going to be better than the beef version of that same thing.

Ina garten has a few simple roasted recipes. For some reason her simple roasted chicken tastes better than any others I have tried. I'd serve that or just a nice steak w/ homemade mashed potatoes, a salad w/ homemade dressing and some type of special purchased dessert

Whole steamed artichokes are always an impressive start to a meal.

Mississippi pot roast. Low brow, but delicious. Especially with homemade mashed potatoes.

Steak au poivre with potatoes, a veg, a salad and cocktails is delicious and simple.

My boyfriend's birthday is coming up and I want to make a meal that knocks his socks off and makes him feel really special, but also isn't too fussy to make or serve. (He's already in love with me but I want him to know that I am also a great cook!)

He likes meat; I was thinking some kind of roast with veggies, but it needs to have lots of flavor. Thanks!
