Do you prefer remote work or in-office work?

I think ICE is offering some fully remote jobs.

The fully remote can be stopped in a moment. Would you take the job if you had to be in the office 5 days a week?

Yes gs 14 is non supervisory and pretty anti social (which to me is a plus)

Op here - I want to be a little vague (paranoid I know) because boss reads this. The
Agency I’d go to is less prestigious or whatever, but I am going to be a fed gov lifer so do not have too much to gain from prestige although I did care about that more a few years ago

Right now about 170 to 145 I believe. At top of pay scale would eventually be a diff of around 200 versus 255 (but that’s in 20 years time)

Keep in mind that fully remote today does not mean it will stay that way forever. Plenty of feds thought they had it good and were recalled to the office. It’s impossible to be sure you’ll stay remote.
So do you want the easier job even if it becomes in office?

I wouldn't trust any promises about a fully remote federal job ever.

How much of a pay cut?

I would take a pay cut for an easier remote job if we could afford it. I’d happily cut back on some spending to afford it. I only wouldn’t do it if I knew the new agency has a toxic work culture.

GS 14 non supervisory? Is it a top ranked agency? I think agency matters a lot. It would be a shock to go from fin reg to a shit agency.

I work at a financial regulator that is full time in the office. I have an offer to become a GS 14 in a role that is fully remote. It would also an easier job which I value at this stage as I am stressed by current job. Obviously a pay cut. But how would you assess this decision when taking into account remote work?
