100% agree - your kid will be fine and better off not being around what woke-DMV has become.

Troll post on not sending your kids to Texas so I don't want to respond, but just to say that Trinity's Health Center actually has policies for making sure that women can get the healthcare they need, including even travel funding. We looked at Trinity for one of our kids and are from Texas. Anyone sending their kid to a private school in a red state can ask that college how they handle these things, many of these institutions are as concerned about these things as many of us are.

People who paint all of Texas with one brush are ignorant; San Antonio is a very blue city with lot s of liberal minding people that support women's rights. We aren't any safer here, acting like your kid is "safer" here than Texas is ludicrous. There's terrible things happening throughout the US right now. We're all in this together. Any kid would have a great time at Trinity or Rice or many other schools in Texas - that will be a great intercultural experience for a kid from the DMV.

Rigorous academics. The premed kid I know of worked very hard at Trinity. Don't expect you will get straight As at this school, weedout is real. But if you can maintain mostly As and some Bs, you will be fine.
They are generous in merit, the full tuition scholarship is likely if your stats is high.

We are friends with a family whose kid attended Trinity U in TX. Kid loved it, parents were happy, kid is now employed in tech in Seattle.

We will be visiting Trinity and know someone from the West Coast whose DD attends and is loving it.

Congrats to your kid! I attended - many years ago now, have kept up with what's going on down there and a good friend's son attends now. Although not well known in NE, Trinity has a stellar reputation in Texas - it's generally considered the best private school in Texas after Rice. They use merit strategically to pay for good students (esp. out of state) and they get them. There are lots of pre-med students so it's a well worn track and they know how to prepare students - I bet if you asked admissions they would connect to to a premed advisor who could talk about it. Lots of investment in student life, great undergraduate teaching, really nice dorms. One of my favorite things was that many professors/deans live very close to campus, so I had many dinners and professor's houses. Although I'm far from Texas now, I still am in touch with many friends college. If the 100 degree summers in San Antonio don't scare you off, it's a really great choice. Very happy I went there and hope my kids consider as well.
