No. If you can’t spend the time to think about something nice for someone once a year, just give them cash or nothing. Gift cards have fees, get lost, are sometimes for niche places, and always end up with money unused.

I don't like gift cards because I read an article a few years ago that they are usually in a drawer with $3.20 still left on it and it gave me this picture of all the gift cards just not being fully used.
