Silver Creek parent here. Question - do teachers have assignments that you can't make up next week if you miss? Or is it just makeup work (which is what it appears to be at Silver Creek). My kid will be at BCC next year so always good to check.

It depends on the class and the teacher. This is high school. But generally, teachers know not to schedule something important the last day before break.

So long as y’all are not the same parents mad every time there isn’t a full week of school.

Former SC/Current BCC parent (new). 9th grade DD will have a math district assessment on Monday, but Tuesday will be "Baron Day" or something like study hall.

Heads up - the week before is busy with tests, which sucks because the whole school is sick with winter viruses.

It was my understanding that attendance doesn't really matter, no? Or maybe my kids haven't been absent enough to receive consequences?

DP. If it's an unexcused absence, they don't need to allow you to make up missed work. Not sure how much will be happening next week, though.

We only keep our kids out if they're sick or they need to go to a funeral.

BCC parent here.

DD, who is usually shy and retiring, boldly asks if there will be any instruction on days when she suspects there might not be. Teachers are always very honest with her If there's no instruction (or just a review), no test to make-up, and nothing of note going on at her club, she prefers staying home. She has a ton of APs and extra-curriculars, and this is a way of managing her time and protecting her mental health. I think it's great. My oldest never dared ask.

Obviously yes. We have missed those days for travel but wouldn't just do it for no reason

Will people be sending their kids to school for the two days next week? Especially asking B-CC parents but anyone can reply of course. DD doesn't have any tests or anything then and I don't know if anyone will actually be there, so I'm a little unsure if I should make her go or not.
