megadosing with vitamin c works better than Tamiflu and has no side effects. Huge doses -- like 1000 or 2000 mgs 3x per day.

Google it. It worked really well for us.

Absolutely. During the swine flu pandemic (and before the updated vaccine), my spouse fell ill while traveling. Their primary care prescribed Tamiflu for both of us, as we were living in a small, one-bedroom apartment. Despite close quarters and high work stress, I never caught the virus.

It can be really hard to eat enough to blunt the effects when you have the flu and feel like hell

Took it last week. Caused nausea. Taking with food is key.

We always take it if someone gets the flu. No side effects in our house, and nobody else caught the flu.

Echoing others, when kid was early elementary they threw it up immediately. I never gave another dose.

My son took it, threw it up and was basically better in 12 hours. A different year I took it had some nausea and also felt better in about 12 hours and I thought I was going to die before I took it.

Tamiflu made me sicker than the flu did. I literally couldn't leave the bathroom floor for 3 hours. It was awful. I'll never take it again.

My ped said the liquid tamiflu for kids will often cause stomach upset, and that has been our experience. She said it’s likely a combo of it tasting completely disgusting, and some artificial sweeteners in there that can cause nausea. Once my kid could swallow pills, we had no problems with tamiflu at all. Adults in our house have taken it preventatively without side effects.

If your kid can swallow a pill, I’d go for that.

My 9-year-old took it last week and felt miserable. She had nausea and was vomiting everything she ate. Her fever went up to 102.4°F and higher. I gave her anti-nausea medication about 30 minutes before administering Tamiflu. She took four doses of Tamiflu, after which I stopped it. She is now feeling better and has returned to her normal routine.

I took it a few years back. No side effects. Kid took a couple of weeks ago, complained of abdominal discomfort and ate less but that also could have been the flu.

One of my kids was just diagnosed with the flu and of course we are supposed to be traveling to see family next week. Pediatrician recommends that everyone take Tamiflu to shorten the duration/severity for my one kid, and hopefully prevent the rest of us from getting sick.

For those who have taken it, did you have any side effects, particularly your kids?

Trying to weigh the pros and cons but also don’t want to ruin Christmas for everyone.
