There's lots of info available online. Start with the course overviews:

AP Lang: https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/media/pdf/ap-english-language-and-composition-course-overview.pdf

AP Lit: https://apcentral.collegeboard.org/media/pdf/ap-english-literature-and-composition-course-overview.pdf

Different school, but my sophomore found out which teachers generally teach each class and is deciding that way. She knows some schools don’t take the IB credits. She has taken the AP teacher before (in another AP English class) and is doing well but is not thrilled about having them again and the other class is taught by a teacher her brother took and really liked. There are no guarantees until schedules are made but it is likely to fall this way.

Look at what colleges accept IB credit. The schools my kid is interested only took too scores from HL IB classes, not SL. So we are sticking with AP when we have a choice. Unfortunately, we are at a school that only has IB for some subjects.

My sophomore is trying to figure out whether to take IB English 1 or AP Lang next year. Does anyone have insights on the difference between these two courses (and their senior year correlates)? My kid’s at BCC, FWIW.
