I don't think I've ever known a MIT professor to be killed by a student or mugging. Lots of on campus grad student shootings / muggings in my time (20 years ago).

Up here in Massachusetts some folks are speculating there is a tie to Brown, but the agencies have shared info and others are saying it’s unlikely.

It’s sad when you have to look at a situation and hope it’s just a random or domestic murder and not antisemitism.

On another note this professor was doing some groundbreaking research into clean energy climate change solutions, which one can either look at as a loss to humanity or a motive for murder.

I don’t know if I’m reading into things- but this case is unsettling in light of terrible events over the last few days.

The professor was Jewish and hope that detail is irrelevant to the bigger picture.
