If you can cancel, cancel. Going over Xmas with crowds crammed onto a small subset of trails is not fun and if you like advanced/expert terrain, it won't be available. Mountains out west don't have the snowmaking capabilities that the east coast mountains have so snowmaking alone can't make the conditions good (especially on harder trails). Hope you can find something else to do instead (maybe drive to Vermont? or fly to Florida, which should be nice and warm).

How is canceling even question? I would have cancel by now.

Even if CO gets snow the expert terrain will be the last to open and there is no way that is happening in the next 2 weeks.

Utah is even worse. I can't believe Park City only has 10 runs open Deer Valley has 8

Well we can’t back out on our trip to Crested Butte so we’re going. The 10 day forecast shows snow for the 4 days before we arrive. We’ll just have to hope for the best. This will be our 3rd Xmas trip. It’s the only time we can go with the kids for a week so we make the best of it. 2 yrs ago it was amazing.

Concur with others that December is not the right time for Colorado skiing. February or even March are better. It's rare for there to be ideal snow conditions this time of year, and droughts that result in minimal base are not uncommon. Vermont, Canada, even Utah makes more sense.

I was there this weekend for a family wedding and was shocked at how warm it was. Absolutely the least amount of snow I've ever seen for this time of year. Personally I'd cancel or plan for other activities.

hard to dogsled or snow mobile when there is literally no snow.

and the few runs that are open will be packed with the people who could not cancel their vacation.

they can only make so much snow due to water limitations and the vast majority of runs don't have snowmaking equipment. CO resorts only make snow to get their beginner trails up and running because lesson are where them money is.

I would 100% cancel. I can not imagine paying the holiday travel premium and making the trip for resorts that are 15% open and that 15% being mostly beginner terrain.

Go to Vermont instead they are having a great start to the season.

Colorado skiing is best in Feb and later. Even without snow it's still a great trip

Which resort? I follow Key, Breck and Vail - all are working like crazy to get terrain open. Back bowls and high alpine you need to wait for snow, of course.

Today’s the day to decide if we cancel our trip to Colorado over new years. There does not appear to be much base and little snow is forecast in the next two weeks. Few trails open. Anyone else canceling?
