Betrayal trauma and the discard for pure limerence creates severe PTSD and lack of trust and belief in anything for the abandoned spouse. And it often happens to the most giving, loving people who don't deserve it at all.

It seems to affect men more than women. I don't think women care as much who you date next because once women move on they never look back.

Looks arent that important to some people. Other things are bigger priorities. I’m 28 and my boyfriend is 41, but he does look good/quite young for his age. And my ex was still judgmental and bitter at first.

My uncle divorced his wife after 25 years of marriage.

He married a woman uglier than my aunt by a lot.

My aunt had no interest in keeping herself up or going out to dinner with work colleagues etc. She had no interests, period.

However, his new wife knew how to dress, take care of him the way he wanted, and was extremely intelligent. The second wife wanted the same things out of life.

She went for the safe choice. Maybe she was fat and not skinny with a bunch of unattractive saggy skin all over. An old and wrinkly guy will see her a jackpot. Just saying ...

She is likely "starved" for love. Or, she opted for someone she believes is very unlikely to cheat on her. I heard that someone women recommend other women to go for the less attractive guy that other women don't pay attention to.

Otherwise it's not common for a divorced woman who is only 40 to seriously date a much older man. Men don't age well and by choosing someone much older, she is signing up to be a caregiver much sooner that she needs to be.

I'll also this. I think men will never understand what women truly look for. When a woman is genuinely looking for someone who will love her unconditionally, the person she ends up with sometimes surprises people. But it doesn't surprise her. I have seen countless people say things like "what is she doing with you?" More than I have heard "What is he doing with that woman?"
