Do kids not do these anymore? I get the phone concerns but none of these kids have phones yet…

You have got to be kidding.

This is a hard no.

Phones are not the biggest concern.

This is just stupid.

This is so rude.

I’d let my 8yo sleep at a close friends house. Not a mass sleepover of 20 kids. Hard no.
I’d either do an evening of fun and have the kids get picked up at 10 or just invite a few girls to sleep over.
Or, do both. Small sleepover one night, bigger party a different weekend.

This is the WORST, it makes the other guests feel like second class citizens. Whatever you do don’t do this.

+1

I think eight is a great age for a sleepover birthday. 20 is a LOT but I’m assuming you have the space, plus not all will come and probably some will get picked up early.

PP again… if you must include all 20, I would not make it a sleepover at all (just do a late pick up or something entirely different).

I think 20 will be tough… just stick to one of the groups (class, neighbors, or church) or a few close friends.

Otherwise, times have changed, but if you’re comfortable hosting (and understanding of parents who may wish to pick up early), go for it.

You sound naive. Listen to your friends, not your 8 year old child.

We did sleepovers at that age but with 3 friends max. Have a party with all the 20+ people, but only have a couple sleepover

My daughter invited 11 girls to sleepover for her 8th birthday. Seven ended up spending the night, three left at around 9pm, and one couldn't make it.

They were quiet from 10:30pm to 5:30am (!!) and it ended up being a great experience for my daughter. I said I would do it again, but only once a year. It's a lot of hours to fill!

Op that is way too many kids. We have done sleepovers that young but MAX I would do is 4-5 kids at that age.
