Private sector and since we have equipment to work from home, there is never a delay or day off for weather. Take your paid leave, find a neighbor to help, or make sure you have a drop-in contract with before/after care if your kids are in elementary. People have been figuring this out for years. You do not need OPM to gift you 2 free hours.

PGCPS also has a delay.

I don’t know what the logic is - I guess that it will be light out? It certainly won’t be thawed.

Local politicians should run on this issue because they would get so much support from parents. It is pretty crazy how bad school is at being open.

No. Unless a widespread issue. This is not that.

Not OP, but my agency is in Loudoun and I live in Loudoun.

Then contact your supervisor. Use PTO. good lord this isnt hard. They are not going to open later when the majority live in areas not impacted. Adding on that some delays were for buses to warm, not ice.

MCPS

But OP, OPM has never given delays and closures every time a school system in the area has. I’ve been a DC area fed for 20 years, with school age children for the last 15. Countless times, including today, I’ve had tot are time off to cover delays and closures.

The indifference and cruelty of the situation is just absurd. This is not only a safety issue for all who drive on slippery and icy roads. But parents and caregivers in the area who are already struggling need OPM to be in sync with school delays to make life work.
