Agree with this. St Pats was crazy liberal. We went to WES and were very happy.

Definitely recommend touring both. The facilities at St Pats are outstanding. We found NPS to be lacking. It didn’t even have a cafeteria.

We have loved our experience at NPS. Highly recommend visiting both to get a better sense of one is a better fit than the other. Both are good options.

Agree with PP. The two year gap is a real downside if you are interested in boarding schools since most start in 9th grade. I would weigh all the pros and cons and try to pick the best school for your kid today. A lot can change.

NPS would not be a great choice if you want boarding school. That two year gap makes it difficult and is limiting.

Last year, St. Pat's students were admitted to Groton, Episcopal, Andover, Deerfield, Hotchkiss, Woodberry, and Lawrenceville, so a pretty good track record.
Politics only comes up at both schools if you actively seek it out. Both are lovely places for kids!

St. Pat's is lovey and every year sends multiple kids to boarding school, which is nice as they know the process and your child wouldn't be an outlier.

St. Pats new head of admissions is one of the best in the business. His former school misses him!

You should also consider WES given your geography. They have placed students at numerous boarding schools up and down the east coast in recent years.

My first kid is 3 and we’re considering both these schools for K. We live in upper NW, brand new to the area and like the commutes for both but curious culture wise what the schools are like? DH and I are both in corporate roles and not particularly into politics but lean conservative. I hear NPS may be a better culture fit but it’s possible our kids will go to boarding school like we did and are a little concerned about the 2 year gap with NPS. Do most people switch at middle school for both schools anyways?
