I don’t have specific info about acceptance rates but my child was accepted ED2 to Tufts last year and is extremely happy there.

There is a lot of interesting information in this chain. But I’m not sure it’s responsive to the specific question. The OP wants to know if Tufts ED2 is a bump over Tufts RD and if so how much, is it worth the ED commitment? We all know ED overall at Tufts is a big bump, and obviously ED1 is going to be more so than ED2. Does anyone have any specific info that can inform the choice between ED2 and RD for Tufts?

I think the boost at Tufts for ED2 is much less than WashU at ED1 unfortunately.

From our private, TO to tufts in ED2 has been successful - so don’t need the super high scores - for humanities/social sciences.

Also TO to Vandy in ED2 is a popular option, recognizing they will defer and then admit or WL in RD. Something similar happens for WashU ED2.

I think this is school specific for our private. I would ask your CCO and look at last few years of high school specific ED2 data (check those IG lists and have your kids search for those kids on LinkedIn - you’ll have a sense how comparable the backgrounds are easily).

What are very high stats?


NMSF (one admitted ED2, one RD), 1550+ SAT, 4.0 UW, 10+ AP's.

Our kid got in RD. Worked really hard on their essays and did an excellent job on “why Tufts”. The one area your kid has to show themself is in the essays. Kids just really spent time on them (and no, we distort outside consultant.). We felt our kids needed to put the time in on their applications because they were the ones who would be going to college.

No one really know because Tufts doesn’t release such data anymore. But the last data available shows that Tufts hovers in the 35% range across both ED1 and ED2.

It seems to be very little which is why we are considering dropping Tufts from DC’s list. If you make it to ED2 I would rather a school that gives a clear advantage.

Tufts RD is a crapshot. For a deferral from WUSTL or other T20, how much does ED2 help at Tufts? Tufts does not break out ED1 and ED2 data.
