The shampoo woman is different than the haircut woman.

Well at my place the stylists give them a percent of tips I think because they are their assistants.

I tell whomever I give the tip to that some of it is for the shampoo person. if the stylist wants to use a shampoo person, they can tip her out

Agree, and isn't the hair cut person renting the chair and not an employee? They don't receive a salary? I assume the shampoo lady is an employee and receives a wage

I don't tip.

Do your stylists not tip out their shampoo girls at the end of the day? I thought it was kind of how, for lack of a better comparison, strippers tip out the DJ and bouncer at the end of the night.

A shampoo color highlighting and blowout cost $210 every 6 weeks where I am, and the stylist did everything herself

I always gave her $40

I did stop going when she started talking about politics while I was hostage, my last appointment was Jan 2020 and I never went back

I’m not dead and I have saved … five (5) years at 52 weeks, $250 every 6 weeks, divide 52 by 6 and multiply by 5

All I know is that I was way too long too stupid to have been getting those haircuts and colors at those prices

I’m bad at math I only had a 650 on the SAT in the 1980s but it’s coming out at I’ve saved like 10,400

And I could still spend $240 tomorrow and look exactly the same

So what have you been doing since Jan 2020?

Not getting my hair professionally cut or colored

What am I supposed to be doing?

I had this question, too. I went this week and tipped $10 for shampoo. My haircut was $150. This is in DC.

I have been to two nice salons in the past 5 years, both in those price ranges. Sometimes the stylist washes my hair, but they usually have either a trainer or some other assistant who does the shampoo.

Both salons now have the nice Venmo qr cord so it’s easy and I don’t have to have cash.

I think shampoo ladies are becoming less common. I go to a fairly high end salon (cuts start around $200) and they don't use them anymore. My stylist shampoos my hair.

I like it because I'm already giving my stylist a healthy tip, and because I actually think it's useful for the stylist to get a sense of my hair, plus I like being able to discuss with her what products she's using and why.

When they still had a shampoo woman, I would give her $5-$10 depending on how pleasant she was.
