Agree-it’s too much. I am a generous tipper but I am not going to pay my stylist more than my psychiatrist.

Yep, I tip $20. Not doing 20%.

Mine is self employed and has no employees (but does pay to rent a small space in one of those salon studio things.) I tip a flat $20 every time I go. She keeps the whole amount anyway obviously.

Katie Couric is probably getting her hair done every few weeks. At least. That's a different situation.

I do $5 for the shampoo person, $10-20 for the haircut person.

OP, I double the regular tip. I’m a generous tipper as a rule, and also don’t go often.

I tip 20% every time; no special holiday tip.

I go every four weeks and I tip 20% each time and I see the owner. I don’t tip extra for the holidays.

Tip 20 percent across the board. For everything.

Katie couric is free to tip as much as she likes, even 5*session.

Not sure what is your usual tip to tell if double your usual tip is cheap or not.

I usually between 10–20% that I divide between the main stylist and person washing hair.

Katie Couric just said the cost of one session. I go 2-3x a year and went in late November and only tipped double my usual tip. Was I cheap?
