Question for posters who spent months losing weight, changing their diet and working out. How could you change your routine so much without your spouse noticing? Are your daily schedules so separate? Do you have any meals together?

We eat dinner together most nights and he just literally didn’t notice I wasn’t eating much or drinking alcohol. I usually have something poured for myself prior to sitting down to the table so it was a spindrift type drink vs wine or spiked sparkling something so I guess that’s why he didn’t notice??? I also didn’t make a big deal about not drinking and I did have a glass of wine a few times during the time period when I was actively trying to lose weight. He’s generally more focused on what’s in his glass/on his plate.

Sorry DH didn’t notice, but love that the coworker’s notice got his attention. I lost 25 lbs by increasing my exercise routine and cleaning up my diet, including not drinking, over a period of 7 months and DH did not notice that either. I hadn’t discussed that I was trying to lose the weight or made a big deal of it. Never even a “you look great did you do something with your hair” type of comment.

He didn't notice that you weren't drinking?

Weight loss can be harder to see when it's incremental and you're seeing the person every day. However, 40 lbs should certainly be noticeable at certain stages.

I would have to come home bald to for him to notice a haircut.

As for weight loss it’s No “you look great!” It’s more “not for nothing, you look better than ___”

Sometimes but not consistently. He definitely noticed when I lost a significant amount of weight, but things like haircuts and new outfits are hit and miss.

No. I got (subtle) lip injections and he didn't notice. Teen boy noticed my lips were "more red"

Does your DH notice and comment on changes to your appearance that are clearly purposeful? Eg you got your nails painted (if you usually don’t), lost 25 lbs, got new glasses, or got bangs. Sometimes DH will ask me if an article of clothing is new and almost without fail, it’s something I’ve had for years. I came home with a completely different hairstyle and crickets.
