Sorry, OP. My spouse and I never make each other attend these horrid affairs.

My DH has a party Saturday night. I attend simply because he asks me to. My spouse rarely asks me for specific things, but do this for him.

Depends on the company and the unspoken expectation. At his level, what do the other spouses do? Doesn’t matter what the plebs are doing.

My law firm is very strict on who can attend.

Be happy he still likes you.

If I aready know them or am bored talking to my colleagues, I’m happy to see the spouse. Or if I’m in a social mood and feel like meeting new people, then I’m happy for spouses to be in the mix. Otherwise I’m indifferent. But your DH wants you there. Maybe he’s proud of you and wants to show you off. Or maybe he’s anxious and needs the comfort and support of your presence. It does not matter what we think. Your husband wants you to go.

If not everyone's spouse goes, its fine for him to go alone. He probably wants you for his own social issues.

DH makes me go to his work holiday party. Not everyone’s spouse comes but he seems to think it is important that I come.
