the APS school board candidate who said she wanted to keep closing schools for religious holidays just won the school board election, so this is unlikely to change.

My kids will be there. Fine if it’s used for parties because it means the Friday before can still be a regular learning day.


For HS, its a whole other animal. Kids/Parents will be moaning about make up tests.

Agree. They even lengthened the school day but didn’t lessen the number of school days. We are way over the minimum required hours and have an unrealistic number of snow days built in.

go blame APE, they had their usual tantrum until APS caved and added this extra time. which no one wants and it's just a waste.

Stop. You cannot blame this horrible calendar on APE.

They either need to come off the 180 day commitment or eliminate holidays — don’t care if religious or Columbus Day or whatever. Something has to give. The calendar is out of control. The past couple years have shown they are more than willing to change the calendar mid-year but it would be hard for them to remove 2 days IMO.
