You can’t really keep the corner of your mouth dry or immobile to scar over. She needs a prescription antibiotic ointment.

This. But you can go to any doctor and ask for mupirocin aka Bactroban for it. It works perfectly for me.

If you can't get into the dermatologist right away your Dentist might be able to provide some treatment and assessment.

The lanolin stuff they sell for chapped nipples is pretty helpful.

I had that condition as a teenager and my doctor recommended taking brewer’s yeast supplements. It worked.

I was severely anemic and one of the symptoms was cracks at the corners of my lips. I went to a dermatologist multiple times, but finally saw my internist. A blood test showed the severe iron deficiency. Once I had iron infusion, it went away for good (along with a host of other symptoms).

Vitamin b deficiency. Take a multivitamin and if you're a female who bleeds monthly one with iron. It will take a little while for it to go away give the vitamins time.

It’s called angular cheilitis. There are a wide range of causes. But for any sore that will not heal, start with a dermatologist.

my son and I both get it after drinking from soft drink cans. Generally we "binge" drink over a week or two (then none for months) but won't heal until totally stop for like two weeks

It just will not heal, no matter what I do. I’ve had it since before Thanksgiving.

It’s unilateral, not oozing or weeping, just a dry crack. Every time I open my mouth to eat, it opens back up painfully. I keep Vaseline on it constantly. I did some googling and even tried an anti fungal in case it was yeast, and no success. I’ve tried antibiotic ointment. Nothing seems to help.

Any suggestions?
