Mine has made homemade chex mix many times, knowing full well that it gives him room clearing beyond awful gas 100% of the time starting the next day. At this point, I call it spousal abuse.

I’m not upright and we will talk about having terrible diarrhea or whatever, but I cannot stand when people fart in front of me. I will dry heave. I also don’t fart in front of him. But I will shamelessly tell him that I just shat straight-up water. 🤔

My dh has ulcerative colitis but almost always goes to the bathroom if he's going to have a loud or smelly fart. I think that's fine. Elsewhere, yuck.

I’m not thinking twice if it’s in the bathroom in the middle of the night - if there’s ever an ok time and place to fart, that would be it. I can’t imagine judging someone for farting in a bathroom.

We fart openly but I don’t raise a butt cheek or make a show of it, and I avoid it at the dinner table.

DH can fart and I have to ignore it but I can't.

We do all you mentioned OP plus the occasional Dutch Oven. Which is never well received.

It's normal to fart in front of each other but your spouse is taking it to another level... not normal to fart while eating, or to leave the bathroom that stinky (needs to air it out or use spray).

One of the green flags when I started dating my husband was that he said “excuse me” when he farts. Still does, 20 years later.

Lactose intolerance?

My kid's lower expectorations become downright sulfurous after eating cheese.

This is a genuine question—does your DH or DW fart constantly? Or make a show of raising a cheek to fart? Fart while eating? Do you wake up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and the room smells like a sewer? Trying to get a sense of what’s normal.

We’ve been married a long time, but it seems like this issue is getting worse and since this is not something I want to discuss with girlfriends, I’m posting here.
