They one acceptance so far, and have been asked for mid-year grades before hearing back on a decision from Pitt and U Delaware.

DC is not too upset about it right now, because that have other schools that are more likely coming in soon, but anyone have any experience with being asked for midyear grades before an admissions decision is given and it turning out favorably? I know it is likely a deferral/waitlist or rejection, but still… would like to hear some thoughts.

It seems that those who have been admitted to Pitt so far have at least a 3.6 unweighted.

OP here, student did all EA applications and no RD.

I do think grades are the key sticking point. If they had taken less rigor, but probably gotten better grades they might be in a better boat. Also, we’re not aiming for the top 50 outside of a couple of those mentioned.

I think they are considering the application, which is a good sign, but likely on the fence and hoping to see an upward trajectory.

What is the UW? My DD was admitted to UDel with a 3.4 uw and little rigor, EA, no request for mid year grades, and no FA offered. I think she was on the line.

I had posted in the wrong thread, but now I found this one.

Does anyone know if Harvard requested for Q1 in the past or in this current 25-26 year cycle for REA?

I’d take a critical eye to the app before RD. Maybe get a professional app review and suggestions for more schools.

+1 rethink major and the framing of application

That deferral from Delaware is a sign.

OP here. I personally think the colleges just want to make sure their admitted or enrolled students stats aren’t too low in the reported CDS, so they need them to get a gpa that is high enough. With weighted APs (1.0 extra in our district), even a few Bs would be OK.

But I know my kid and they are not going to get straight As. So we’ll see. They are working hard but it’s a tough school, but I’m glad they are taking the rigor they are.

Of straight As weren't enough for an admit they would have sent a rejection. Are they going to be straight As?
