I also had a hard time hearing the dialogue.
Bad movie. Not believable and I hated every character except Chloe Sevigny's character who was not as repulsive as the others.

No, they were not realistic in the least. It was written by someone who knows nothing about academics. I think the movie was an imitation of Woody Allen and dome of the terrible characters that have been in his films like Husband's and Wives. And his characters are not realistic either.
