I really enjoyed the movie, as a whole. I have to admit there was a bump to get over at the start when yes, they were kind of imitating Woody Allen characters with all the dry conversations and one-upmanship. But it did reflect an academic world, very closely. And I think the characters were interesting. Unlikeable sure, but interesting.

DP. I completely, 100% disagree. These characters epitomized a very specific type of Ivy League pretentiousness. I attended an Ivy and was so relieved when my own child had no interest in applying. The writer nailed these personalities.

I couldn’t even make it halfway it was so bad. And I love Julia Roberts.

What was the deal with Alma's husband? He seemed to very clearly be gay, but they never addressed it.
