Correction. These are led lights. Not halogen. And yes they are very annoying and are being used in newer cars. They are more efficient but the color and glare and intensity is becoming a problem. You’re not alone OP.

Have you had your eyes checked? Newer or more expensive vehicles come with super bright lights. I wear yellow lenses for driving at night and it's helped a lot

I believe that some newer car brands have these obnoxiously high level lights. Unfortunately they cannot be adjusted. It’s awful. I have also noticed people are starting to use these bright halogen lights in the houses as well and it’s such an awful aesthetic.

I think this question almost every time I drive at night. It is almost 100% pickup truck & SUV drivers, with expensive imported cars mixed in. WTAF makes these people think they own the road that way? And yes, it is a traffic violation to not switch to lowbeams with oncoming or ahead vehicles. Source: aquaintance who was ticketed for not turning the brights down.

People drive around with their high beams on because they don’t notice they’re on. It’s the same as the people who drive around with their headlights off and don’t notice. Partly they get used to the auto setting and don’t realize they’re not still on it but mostly, they’re idiots.

I have a car with bright lights. At night, some people flash their brights at me. Maybe you could do that?

Agree, OP. How are those overbright lights even legal when they blind oncoming traffic? They're a hazard.

If they're behind you it's a simple matter to adjust the side mirrors so the lights won't blind you. If the adjusted mirrors throw the glare back at the offending vehicle, that's too bad for them.

I don't think that's what OP is talking about. People add this stupid strip of nasa galaxy level lights to their vehicle that blinds everyone else. They put it on the back and front of their vehicle. I usually see it on pickup trucks.

What are you talking about? No one can control the brightness of their lights and most don't use high beams except when no one else is there on roads without lights.

DC aggressive driving rules say: Keep your headlights on low beam, except on unlighted roads where the darkness makes high beams necessary (wich is only in Rock Creek Park because everywhere else has street lights). Dim your lights to low beam if a car overtakes you or for oncoming traffic, and don’t flash your own high beams if a car comes toward you with its high beams on.

My headlights are bright. Nothing I can do about it, it’s the car.

If I'm being blinded by headlights in my side mirrors, I adjust them outward so it's no longer happening. No idea if it reflects the light back to the driver or not, but if it does then so be it.
