I am a criminal defense attorney, unless threatening physical harm, yelling at your kid is not a crime. Just felt compelled to post since someone said it was "illegal".

I don't think you can excuse yourself by being an immigrant. Screaming is poor manners and low impulse control no matter where you come from. Looks like your DC wants nothing to do with your "culture". Hopefully this is a wake-up call for you.

Your kid is being raised in this culture, so it’s not ok to scream at them. I’m not sure it’s ever ok, but I digress. If cps shows up, just be open and honest and do whatever parenting classes they suggest.

And just because something is common in a culture doesn't mean it's not damaging.

Maybe this can be a wake up call to your spouse to find a better way to communicate with your DC. While it might be common is your culture, research indicates (depending on frequency and what’s being said) it can be very harmful to children. And depending on the context, possibly illegal.

You can scream at your kids, nothing will happen with the report. If there are bruises on your child something may happen.

Its one thing to speak firmly to your children its another to scream constantly.
