During the pandy I decided to start buying one share of stocks I liked for fun. I did it via fractional share buys doing $100 every other week. I have about $30k in that account now. I literally was like Ok my one treat is Starbucks. Let me buy that. Lines are always long at Costco. Buy. People cant date in real life. Buy Match. This company makes the machines that make semiconductors that make microchips. Buy. I use Reddit and they let me buy early so sure. I have had Netflix since 2004. Buy. I sell clunkers and buy something else but it’s all ✨vibes✨. Fun though!

I bought Palantir and it has skyrocketed.

No. I have one individual stock I got for my own education and it's done very well. Aside from that I am all in index funds. I would not mind buying more individual stocks but not sure which I'd get.

Nope. I used to have a handful of individual stocks but my choices and timing were always bad. I don't think any of them beat the most generic index funds, so I gave it up.

Not really, only a bunch of Amazon stock from when I worked there and it was part of my compensation package.

No, except for approximately 0.1% that I was gifted and haven't sold. Individual stock returns have too much variance.

Yes, don't know the percentage. But, I sold a lot and now am in index funds because I didn't have time to keep up. I usually followed the MF stock picks from the brothers. I bought Apple and some others in 2008 I held on to.

Only individual stocks and crypto. I can make my own fund for free.

Well, you wouldn't invest in it via a stock purchase. You'd probably have to buy the franchise and run the McDonald's.

So you don’t do VOO at all?

No, I've outperformed every metric. Not going to change now.

I am mostly in funds as well, but lately have been investing small amounts in things that interest me. Generally it's things that I hear on WTOP or read in NYT that catch my ear/eye, and I think "I bet that will do well." Recently invested in the group that owns Tim Hortons after hearing about a big expansion in MD, and this week invested in a boba tea place that went public this year that I read about in an article in the NYT this week. Small amounts, 5k here, 10k there, and I watch it to amuse myself. I only recently started doing this. The only other time I did it was years ago ... and it was Amazon ... so. I did well there, lol. Wish I'd invested more.

I am mostly in index funds, with small amounts allocated to gold/bitcoin/and a couple individual stocks I like.
