We go every year for 2 weeks and we never want to leave.

A week isn't enough. We've been a dozen times and still havent been everywhere (Acadia is our happy place). There is so much to do, from searching tide pools to boating (learn about the lobster fishermen, Cranberry Island, do the educational ride - used to be Diver Ed), to picking and eating blueberries to hikes to walks to ranger programs to sunrises and sunsets, and so much more. You could do a different hike every morning and afternoon for a week and not come close to hitting a quarter of the park.

Here is my prior post. At the end I outline our week's long itinerary.

You can stay almost anywhere on MDI and be within driving distance of where you want to visit. For convenience you might want to be near BH or even the explorer bus route (in season).

Tip. Book early and through a local real estate agency for best choices and prices. We checked VRBO and AirBNB and some prices for area were insane.

Generally agree but it really depends on what one wants and where one is staying. If you're staying in a hotel and you don't love hiking (or climbing, kayaking, biking) one week might be too much.

I have a family member with a quiet home out in the woods and I've been numerous times for 10+ days and I love it.

This.

Acadia is our favorite place and we are avid hikers. We usually visit for a week and have more than enough to do. We could easily stay longer and still have plenty to do.

I'm very outdoorsy but this would be fine for me. I also spent a week and didn't get to do all the hikes I had highlighted.

Your stay on the island? Most people will dip into the park every day that they are there. There is hiking all over the island and there are towns all over the island.

There is staying in or near Bar Harbor, which gives you more choice of (mediocre) restaurants. Or there is staying on the west side of the island aka the quiet side.

We were there for three days and it wasn’t enough to do all the hikes we wanted to do.

We did 7 days including a drive up/down the coast from portland (where we flew into). So it was really 6 full days and two half days and it was perfect.

We did 5 days and that was good but we also could have added a day or two for longer hikes. Portland is an easy drive and a fun city so you could also add a couple days there.

It’s been quite some time and I went in June the last time. I believe we spent 7 days there but I can’t recall exactly.
