Since OP wants to take this trip "in the next week," she has the advantage of being able to look at current forecasts. Palm Beach is barely going to crack 80 degrees over the next 10 days. I don't consider that warm, beachy weather.

Le Blanc in Cancun doesn’t have the casitas but it’s quick/easy to get to and it never felt crowded to me. Really felt like everyone staying there had a smile on their face from how nice it is.

Beach at Little Palm is like most keys beaches. Way too shallow grass flats you have to walk out a long way to get waist deep water. We stayed once, but not twice for that reason.

Second Puerto Rico. Direct flights, and just relax when you get there

Palmaia House of Aia near Playa del Carmen MX. Fly 3.5 hours direct to Cancun and drive 45 minutes to tranquil paradise.

Key west. Direct quick flight from dca. Sunset key cottages. Pretend you are in your 30s again.

This is a great list. I see Golden Eye in Jamaica is on it; I have not stayed there but I have stayed at another Island Outpost property -- The Caves, and we loved it. No sand beach though, it's cliffs, and you go down lots of stairs to get into the water. Very relaxing and lovely place.

Not sure of your budget, but if I had no budget and if there is availability the easy answer to this for me would be Little Palm Island in FL.

Or perhaps Anse Chastanet/Jade Mountain in St Lucia. And I agree with the Cap Juluca on Anguilla suggestion above. Not sure what the seaweed situation is in Cancun this time of year, but if it is ok, consider Rosewood Mayakoba.

Little Palm Island Resort & Spa in the Florida keys is supposed to be really nice. But I have not personally been.

The Breakers too in Palm Beach, quick easy flight

I’d work with a luxury TA. Heard good things about Alex Travels and Sarah Lee. Both have a lot of expertise on what you’re looking for.

Belmond Cap Juluca, Anguilla (all villas have direct access to the beach)
Como Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos (have to take a short boat trip from Providenciales)
Four Seasons, Anguilla

My husband and I recently went through something extremely traumatic, we both are suffering with PTSD and its taking a toll on both of us. Many have been suggesting we get away for a short while, wish we could go away right through Christmas but we both have jobs, obligations, etc...my husbands parents are going to watch our kids. we want to do this in the next week. We decided last night to just do it and escape somewhere warm.

My main prerequisites are
not too far (3-4 hours plane max)
want a top luxury resort
want something not sceney going to unplog and relax
ideally a place that has small casitas on the beach
somewhere that feels more private not loud and busy
willing to pay top dollar

we need this desperate. Haven't been to the islands in quite a while, last time was Turks and Caicos Grace Bay which was nice but have no idea if it still is. Any suggestions are welcome, thanks. please no snarky comments, can't handle those right now.
