One dude who was caught before a crime committed is not an indication of a school with crummy safety.


I totally agree with your premise, but feel compelled to point out that Florida State had a mass shooting with several deaths just within the last year or so. Unfortunately, this sort of thing has become so commonplace it barely registers these days unless it's in our own backyard.

It's certainly worth asking questions about campus safety plans at admitted students days, but frankly, anything can happen anywhere at this point. This is a much bigger problem that just the university level.

I just think one crazy dude with a plan is not reason to cross schools off a list.

The vast majority of shooters are black men. When you look at the statistics for only very large events, there are more white men, but inline with population statistics. As a proportion of population, Hispanics are under represented and Asians are over represented. This all changes are you tweak what constitutes a “mass” shooting though.

Hispanics are only underrepresented because they are often classified as "white" in charging documents. It's been widely reported lately, just not in sources unsupportive of the truth.
