Yeah, I'm saying everyone who was laid off but invited should RSVP and show up! I'm not saying bring uninvited guests.

Yeah, but you see, this was sent to my private email. While I worked there, the invite would be sent to my work email, not my private email. There was a deliberate effort to enter my private email and put my name on the rsvp page.

Was not a stupid mistake. It was one of those paperless posts with my name specifically on the invite.
I have been sort of looking for work since then. Honestly, this company owner was kind of traumatizing and the experience turned me off to the profession. He would talk about his anxiety and look for therapists amongst the staff. His 2nd wife would pop in and loudly laugh and be jovial. This woman has no training in our profession. So much forced laughter in the weekly staff calls from her - all the admins felt forced to laugh along. Meanwhile, we lost this big juicy government client because the company owner was subpar in delivery. It was a depressing place to work and the other senior staff were similarly morose.
I know this party is just to keep spirits up for the new junior staff.
I texted one of my old colleagues about it. Have yet to her back but this guy toxically hated working there and I did not enjoy sitting next to him and hearing his constant gossip and complaint about our boss. (So yes, I was diplomatic, did not engage in gossip and kept my mouth shut but was sacked anyway.)
But I haven't had a formal job in over a year and I'm considering it just to have a springboard in the job market.
Yikes, it doesn't sound good. I guess keep options open?

And no, I did not get a holiday invitation from the company for 2024.
These two recent holiday invitations were sent two weeks apart. Just received the same one this morning.
One invitation had the old office address for snail mail. The recent invitation has the new office address for snail mail.
They laid me and most of the team off in Sept. 2024 after a government contract was not renewed. I received a text this spring from a former colleague there who was laid off and looking for work. They moved because the loss of the government contract required less secure spaces. It's a NY office so real estate is high.
I noticed they hired a lot of junior staff this year. I am senior staff.
Do you think they are looking to re-engage? They mentioned being re-hired when they laid me off.
