you are saying the same thing as PPs. "Transfer" to different child's account or "change" the beneficiary.

Yes you need to transfer. If you move to your bank account you will pay tax on earnings

I set up both accounts at the same investment company and set up a new 529 account for the other child. Have yourself as the manager of both accounts. Transfer money to younger child account. Or, have the older adult child transfer account funds.
