I think the whole status symbol thing is ridiculous. Get what you like and is withinyour budget, the only thing to consider is stone durability (because rings Get a lot of abuse).

Diamonds were mostly marketing anyway.

I've noticed that the celebrities have been preferring the bombé ring style, which uses a lot of gold. It makes sense, as it's no longer such a flex to have a huge stone.

OP here. Like I said, I got married a long time ago so I have no skin in the game here. I'm just wondering what it's going to mean trend-wise.

Buy the diamond you like. Don’t be a sheep following trends. If more people can now afford big rocks then good for them. It’s silly to feel superior because you paid more for a “mined” diamond. They’re the same.
