I'm looking for the name of the series of time-travel or dimension-travel books that ended with a female character lost somewhere around the equator. I think the series starts with a guy that didn't make much of himself but he changes his fate into a movie star via some sort of travel. I also recall a car accident that was very important in the last of the books that I read. There were multiple relationships developed throughout the two? three? books thus far and I suspect the next book has been released by now.
