No. These Ivies do not run aid packages on the kids they are deferring. The only way I could see this happening is if a kid starts out in the admit pile and move to deferred at the last minute (but honestly I haven't heard or or read of this happening). 99% of the time, if they contact you regarding aid questions you're in.

It's the same at Dartmouth. If they call or email you with an aid question you can assume you're in.

Yes, it's a very positive sign. At most schools it means you're in because they don't run the aid packages on kids they are not admitting.

This was 100% true at one Ivy I was following closely last year.

it's not strange. the financial aid people have to prepare packages for admitted students.
