Seriously !!

I doubt my kid’s ED will notify before the end of next week, like all prior years.

Well, if your kid gets in, they will be facing 4 years of that.

See last year's date noted here as a guess for this year, at least until an announcement has been made.

And, if true, this would be the second school I have heard of to notify much earlier than usual. (Villanova is other). Anyone have any inside info on rationale?

This would not be earlier than usual. Dec 15 is a last possible, as in BY Dec 15, not ON Dec 15.

Look at last year's release date.

Most schools do something similar. It is a hedge against the uncertainty of how long it will take them to finish decisions.

lol

I think by now the decision for the majority of applicants are made at these schools. I wish they at least send out some kind of unofficial indication. The defers and rejects can begin preparing RD supplementals with lots of motivation. The accepts can plan on holiday vacation!

Tulane informed early.

My assumption - schools are using automation (like populating content quicker) so that readers can read quicker accelerating the decision making process.

Yes, our CCO confirmed they are using AI to filter. And they've hired less readers this year. I suspect the essays won't matter all that much.

The last couple years they have come out on the first Tuesday or Thursday in December. Last year was the first Tuesday, which would be tomorrow.
