We are new to FCPS. Do you have a link for the online giving for all teachers?

Your school will send it

The school, or the PTA? It seems weird that the school can solicit cash from parents for teachers.

At our Catholic school the PTA collects cash and gives each teacher a bonus check (PTA has to do it to avoid taxes). We gave $50 per kid.

Don’t you give bigger/better gifts to people you’re close to?

Family and friends yes. Teacher no.

Oh. I have always given much larger gifts when there’s been a personal connection with my student. Otherwise, it’s not really a gift.

Probably depends on rules. MCPS limits teacher gifts to $20 over the school year.

But you can use a gift card online and they will let you shop at the warehouse if using a gift card.

Don’t most school districts have rules about amounts? For the older elementary kids, 30 dollar Amazon cards.

For the preschooler, 100 bucks to Target each for our teacher and assistant teacher and 25 for the part time helper.

Curious how much everyone is giving their kids teachers this year and from where? I am thinking of moving my gifting to Costco gift cards, my kid hasn’t made a significant connection to this teacher yet.
